KEY OBJECTIVE
The Asia Pacific Developer Program aims to increase the success of sales teams by influencing developers, DBAs and architects in strategic customers and partners. By educating and evangelising to this key audience, barriers to the adoption, and thus sales, of Oracle technology are reduced. The Developer Program also supports activities, such as OTN Developer Days, Oracle Developer and third-party event sponsorships, to increase the adoption of Oracle technology in the wider developer community. The technology consultants of the program in China will localize and execute activities to increase awareness of Oracle technology to the above audiences.
The candidate will be the leader of the Database developer/DBA community in Greater China. With excellent written and verbal communication skills to match their technical proficiency, he/she will articulate Oracle's key database developer messages both internally and externally.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Customer Sales Support: Run a developer/DBA focused program in strategic accounts to influence the technology choice, support open opportunties and drive adoption of new Oracle technology.
· Marketing Event Support: Create and deliver content at marketing events as well as man booths to engage the attendees
· Product Leadership: Leadership by example; demonstrating and growing deep solution specialization in the Database technology community in China.
· Community Evangelist and Engagement: Engage various user groups and communities focused on Oracle related technology as well as open source and open standards organizations.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE and TRAINING
· Degree in computer Science or related technical discipline, with preferably an OCP or equivalent professional certification.
· A minimum of 7-10 years experience in the information technology industry. Ideally involved in the DBA area and with some sales consulting experience.
· Experience in designing and implementing scalable, high performance enterprise databases using Oracle or other technologies.
· Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate the advantage of Oracle technology to senior business and technical decision-makers as well as developers/DBAs.
· An individual who is a self-starter, who can take ownership of opportunities, working independently and/or by assembling and leading Oracle partners, other technical specialists and Oracle consultants as required
· Ability and willingness to travel extensively within China
· Fluent in both Mandarin and English

Oracle Database 11gR2的升级路径与升级思考

在上次参加Oracle的访谈活动时，我就升级的观点做过一点陈述，再记录一下：如果客户还在使用Oracle9i，那么从9i直接升级到11gR2将是一个非常好的选择。
--这是因为，10g较9i来说是一个划时代的产品，其自动化特性是Oracle新一代产品的发展目标
--而Oracle Database 11g则是10g的改进版本，是其10g产品特性的延续，较10g更为成熟
--从9i到11g，避免了10g诸多不成熟特性的折磨(当然11g也不一定是那么可靠的）
--CBO经过10g的多年测试和验证，在11g中应该更加成熟，这是非常重要的。
而对于Oracle 10g的用户，可以再等一两个PatchSet再做考虑，比较Oracle 10g还有一个较长的支持期，11gR2的到来无疑加快了Oracle9i退出市场的步伐。
在Oracle的文档中，表明9.2.0.8是可以直接升级到11gR2的，不过对于使用了裸设备的RAC集群，升级显然要复杂的多。

Direct upgrade to the new Oracle Database 11g release is supported from 9.2.0.8 or higher, 10.1.0.5 or higher, 10.2.0.2 or higher, and 11.1.0.6 or higher. Note that Oracle Clusterware release 10.2.0.x must be at release 10.2.0.3 (or higher), before you attempt to upgrade it to Oracle Clusterware 11g.
